Cropland Soil Acidification
In Montana and elsewhere in the western United States and Canada, acidity is a problem that is affecting soil quality and the environmental, economic, and social sustainability of agriculture production systems.
Soil pH test results reveal that Montana's agricultural fields are becoming more acidic.
Measure & Manage
There are tools to determine if low pH is a problem and steps to take towards remediation and prevention.
Funded by Fertilizer Check-Off and USDA, we are looking for regionally suitable options.
We provide MSU publications and presentations, and links to other states' resources on soil acidification.
Watch for field days in the summer of 2018.
