Course Description

Students will likely be professionals already working in some area of environmental science, management or policy. They will learn how to use Holistic Management as a systems thinking approach to the analysis and solution phases of complex problems involving natural and human resource management . This course goes beyond the undergraduate level by asking students to identify, analyze and report on current literature and real cases where Holistic Management and systems thinking are effective, and by conducting and reporting on independent field observations of natural and human resource management related to systems thinking and Holistic Management. 

Meeting Place and Times

Participants log in to the course at a time of day that best fits their schedule. It is necessary to connect at least 4 - 6 times per week and spend 8 - 10 hours per week while the course is in session, either online or offline working on course related assignments, to stay current and successfully complete this 3 credit graduate course.

Lora Soderquist, MS. 
Lora Soderquist is a faculty member in Land Resources and Environmental Sciences at Montana State University where she has worked extensively with this course and Introductory Soils. Additionally, she has worked with seminomadic herding families in Mongolia, and is an independent land management consultant managing private and public lands throughout the West.

Prerequisites

Must have a Bachelors degree

Time Commitment:

8-10 hours per week. If you are unfamiliar with this field of study and/or method of delivery, you may require more time.
